Pastiglia Case Study

Pastiglia

• About the Project

Pastiglia is an application created to encourage artists to create, promote, and sell work independently. This app aims to be both a marketplace, and social media, with the purpose of creating a space that helps artists sustain themselves. With options to explore digitally, and opporitunities to view artwork in person, Pastiglia will help users cultivate a one of a kind art collection, as well as, become immersed in one of the most unique cultures.

The Problems

For artists, selling your work independently can be a challenge. In today's rapidly evolving social media landscape, most apps prioritize social engagement over direct marketing. Navigating this competetive space means contending with thousands of other lifestyle categories to capture the audience's attention

How do you integrate a physical presence into a digital landscape?

How do you avoid creating a closed-off community that does not benefit to "non-artists"?

Pain Points

1

To users, most apps don't seem to hold the arts category at a standard of other popular categories.

2

To users, it's hard to gain a following with applications that feel like they are "overwhelmed with content".

3

It's difficult to feel accepted into the art world as a new collector or veiwer. There is a need for a more welcoming space that doesnt discourage.

4

For those who want to collect art, they find it difficult to envision how art would look within their home, space, etc.

Research and Development

Usability Studies: Findings

1

Users had a hard time finding which tab the art for sale was on. They prefer to be able to find artwork in any tab of the application.

2

User found the collapsable information within product page cumbersome. Majority of users would rather know up front the size and price without having to dig further.

3

Users would prefer to have the ability to know the sizes of the artwork would look like in person. Ability to understand dimensions is difficult for some and would like to be able to know the size of a piece without having to leave phone to get tools.
